Moldum
Folder templates

Your project folder structure, created in one click. Every time the same, every time complete.

Whoever starts several projects a month ends up with the same folder tree copied by hand, renamed by hand and half filled. Moldum turns that tree into a template: you type the data once (client, name, date…) and it creates the folder with all its subfolders, numbered, with the documents inside already filled in.

How a folder template works

  1. Build the tree once. In the Templates section, add folders and documents to the template’s Arbol folder, or copy your current structure into it with Explorer or Finder.
  2. Put placeholders where the data changes. {Client} in a folder or file name, {{Client}} inside a Word, Excel or PowerPoint document. The template’s fields are whatever you decide: client, project name, delivery date, budget…
  3. Set the folder name pattern and the destination. For example {Number} {Client} - {Name}, created in Videos\Projects. Moldum looks at what is already there and proposes the next number: 24.01, 24.02…
  4. Create. Choose the template, fill in the form, press Create. The folder appears with the whole tree, named and filled in, and opens in Explorer or Finder.

Folder structure examples you can copy

Five of them come with Moldum as sample templates. Placeholders in magenta are replaced on each project.

What sets it apart from a script or a zip you unpack

Names that change

A zip always gives the same names. A template replaces {Client} and {Number} in folders and files, and copies some files only when a condition holds.

Documents filled in

The quote, the contract and the delivery note inside the tree come out with the client’s data, the date in words and the total with VAT, ready to send.

Numbering without mistakes

Series 24 → 24.01, 24.02… Moldum reads the destination folder and proposes the next one, so two people on the same network never repeat a number.

Shared with the team

Templates can live on a network folder or NAS: everyone creates projects from the same structure, and a change in the template reaches everyone.

Questions about folder templates

What is a folder template?

A folder tree you build once (subfolders and documents) and reuse for every new project. In Moldum a template is just a folder called Arbol with whatever you put inside; nothing to program.

Can I use placeholders in folder and file names?

Yes. Write {Client}, {Number}, {Date} or any field you define in the folder or file name; Moldum replaces them when it creates the project. Formats like {Date, long} or {Client, uppercase} are available in Pro.

Does it work with my existing folder structure?

Copy your current structure into the template folder and it is ready. If you come from Post Haste, its .pht templates are imported in one click.

Does it create the folders only, or the documents too?

Both. Documents inside the tree (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text) are copied and their {{Placeholders}} are filled in with the data you type in the form.

Is it free?

Yes. The free version creates unlimited projects from the sample templates plus two of your own. Pro is a one-time payment for unlimited templates and the advanced options.

Windows, Mac or Linux?

Windows 10 and 11, and a beta for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Linux, with the same look and features.
